Responsible for upkeep of buildings, fencing, animal enclosures and grounds/roads of the Drive-Thru and Walkabout Adventure Zoo. Must be comfortable working around animals. Will not be required to be with wild animals unsupervised but will have to work near animals and exhibits.

The Wild Animal Safari Zookeepers staff focuses on the care and feeding of our Drive-Thru and Walkabout Adventure Zoo animals, as well as herd management and practical care of range animals and animals who live in their own enclosed exhibits. Will be required to work directly with wild animals in the open range and/or with the wild animals who are housed in their own enclosed exhibits. Zookeepers are typically not assigned to a single species but are tasked based on experience, comfort level, and expertise.

Food Service consists of a full theme park style restaurant serving a variety of fresh-made hamburgers, grilled chicken, pizza, wings, salads, etc.… Foodservice employees consist of cooks and cashiers. The Park hires separate cooks and cashiers/expediters and applicants that can do both. The best candidates are outgoing, personable, friendly, and enjoy working with others. Ability to cook food and/or operate a POS cash register, count change, and balance a till is essential to the position.

The Wild Animal Safari works with local colleges and universities to give students at all levels practical educational experience as a zookeeper intern. This hands-on training experience helps students obtain full-time paid positions after graduation in their field of study by accommodating the intern’s academic commitments in their semester course studies. Many interns have obtained full-time employment upon graduation or have obtained their dream jobs in the animal care industry.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Be enrolled at a local or regional college or university seeking a degree in a field of study related to animal care, animal husbandry, zoological institution, wildlife conservation, animal sciences, etc.…
- Preference will be given to applicants with at lease one year of college level (or equivalent) coursework
- Have a passion for educating the public in animal conservation and animal welfare
- Aspire to work in an animal related industry including but not limited to animal-related management positions, veterinary medicine, zookeepers at zoos and wild animal safari parks, education and conservation, game wardens, teaching at high school or universities, or working in national parks.
- Availability for intern scheduling at least 16 hours a week, for 8 weeks during the Summer, Fall, or the Spring school semesters

The Wild Animal Safari education staff operates daily bus tours at the park. The Zoo Education staff member will understand and be able to communicate the animal species and “fun facts” about the animals and exhibits during the daily Drive-Thru Safari bus tours, and during the Walkabout Adventure Zoo education events, with occasional outside animal safari presentations to schools and civic groups.

The Wild Animal Safari education staff operates daily bus tours at the park. The Zoo Education staff member will understand and be able to communicate the animal species and “fun facts” about the animals and exhibits during the daily Drive-Thru Safari bus tours, and during the Walkabout Adventure Zoo education events, with occasional outside animal safari presentations to schools and civic groups.

The Wild Animal Safari works with local colleges and universities to give students at all levels practical educational experience as a zookeeper intern. This hands-on training experience helps students obtain full-time paid positions after graduation in their field of study by accommodating the intern’s academic commitments in their semester course studies. Bryan-College Station, Texas
Parks! America, a public animal safari & amusement park company is looking for a motivated, organized, and hands-on General Manager. This position requires relocation to the Bryan-College Station, Texas area near Houston at the Aggieland Wild Animal Safari. The successful General Manager will be organized, experienced in hiring, training, and scheduling up to 50+ employees (full-time and part-time) in a park ranger outdoors type atmosphere. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for this team leadership position. The successful candidate will be able to lead and manage multiple divisions including animal care operations, maintenance, retail, food & beverage, admissions, and parking.
The General Manager oversees the entire Park/Zoo operation including the safety of visitors and employees, animal care, daily operations, hiring & training of staff, labor scheduling and costs, park & CAPEX maintenance, managing the P&L. We can teach the business to motivated candidates with good organizational and communication skills. Successful candidates should have good management, communication, and people skills.
All positions are hands-on. Aggieland Safari is open 363 days a year. This position will include benefits, which will include paid sick days, paid holidays, vacation days and company-sponsored health insurance (Fall of 2021). - Reports to the Executive Vice President.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop and supervise a diverse team of employees which includes zookeepers, maintenance staff, admissions team members, food & beverage staff, retail team members, group sales coordinators, and park services team members.
- Operate the park as efficiently as possible, while maintaining safety and guest service standards.
- Implement and monitor all company policies and procedures.
- Comply with all corporate daily and weekly reporting requirements. Accuracy of paperwork is essential.
- Complete and appropriately file all required inspections, daily check lists, maintenance reports and USDA paperwork.
- Maintain appropriate control of expenses, labor hours, operating costs, and inventory within areas of responsibility.
- Lead the company safety program. Comply with, review, and adjust any operational health and safety procedures which risk the company or animals. Comply with all OSHA standards including required and documented employee training, certifications, and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA’s), with particular attention to Job Hazard Assessments & safety meetings.
