Animal Corner – Eli the Emu
Meet Eli, the park’s beloved emu . He has been with the park for about eight years now. This bird is the number two largest bird in the world, second only to the ostrich. The species reaches about six feet in height, and hails from Australia.
While the emu is a flightless bird, what it lacks in flying skills it certainly makes up for in running speed. A bird like this can reach speeds up to 30-32 miles per hour. While you will not see Eli spring this fast in the video above, you should definitely still check him out both in the video and in person at Wild Animal Safari!
